Installations, Features, Creative Dishonesty, 365 Days of Print

Oh my, many things have been happening and changing since October.

Just today I installed my first ever installation, Palpus, at Center Studio Architecture on Main Street in Durham. It was more physically demanding than I expected, wrestling with all of the twine laden triangles was quite a task. They would rather lie in a pile than suspend nicely from the paneled ceiling. Please excuse the cell phone quality image, better ones to come soon!

Today was a big day! I was also featured on a fantastic website, Art and Art Deadlines. Check it out HERE! I’m very honored to be the November artist on this great site. You can help by leaving a comment at the bottom of my feature… the artist with the most comments by January 15th will be Artist of the Year!

Want to see a group of artists create a piece of art in response to the news every day? Look no further than 365 Days of Print! I am part of this exciting online residency for the month of November. It is a fantastic site full of interesting ideas and artists.

My piece for the Creative Dishonesty project is finished. It will soon be on display at Duke at the Center for Advanced Hindsight! Better images to come very soon.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everybody, it is coming up soon!

Falling into Fall – New Happenings

This fall has been an incredibly busy time for me. Between some jobs, riding, and time in the studio I am busy nonstop!

I have been a performer in Kate Gilmore‘s amazing new piece, Wall Bearer, at the Weatherspoon Museum in Greensboro, NC. It has been an incredible experience, I am learning about performance art in a whole new way. Standing in a 2’x2′ square for three hours at a time is quite an experience and connected me to my body in many new ways. Also, the interesting divide between the viewer and the viewed has been on my mind throughout this process.

I am also incredibly excited to be a part of the Durham Storefront Project! I will be creating a steel and twine installation in the front windows of Center Studio Architecture on Main Street in Downtown Durham. It will be up from November 18th to January 3rd. Check out the preliminary sketch below!

Two more exciting things are happening! First, Holster is in Maryland to be a part of the Eye of the Beholder National Found Object Exhibition at the Maryland Federation of Art Circle Gallery in Annapolis, MD. It will be on display from October 30-November 26, 2011.

Second! A brand new little guy, Shivaree, will be debuting at the ThinkSmall6 Biennial International Miniature Invitational at Artspace at Plant Zero in Richmond, VA. This show runs from October 28th-December 18, 2011. This exciting international invitational exhibition features works of all kinds no larger than three by three inches.
